Bye Bye House..

So we still have not closed on our (old) house. Technicalities with the buyer's lender.. yada, yada, yada.. taking a little longer than expected but we'll supposedly close soon.. yada, yada. The really cool thing about this whole situation is that we busted our butts to get out of our house in time for the scheduled closing date, and have now been in my mom's house going on three weeks that we could have still been living in and/or taking time to pack up our house (which.. ahem.. we just made another mortgage payment on even though we are NOT IN IT). Anyhoo, I digress..

We moved in to this 1575 sq. ft. house less than a year after we were married, in February of 2004. We were so excited! About a month after we moved in, we brought home our first baby, our dog Mattie. Three years later, we brought Nate and Lilly home here. I will miss it, but due to my incessant picture taking, luckily I will never forget it.

Bye Bye living room!!

We did a lot of living in this room..

In our living room a month after the babies were born..
We watched the Vikings on Sunday afternoons in the fall..
We played in the floor on Friday nights..
And Saturday mornings..

We tried our very first "food" in this living room..

We had the babies' first Christmas in this living room.
Bye Bye Kitchen!

There wasn't a lot of cooking done in here, but..
This is where we gave Nate and Lilly their first baths..

Bye Bye Babies' Room!

I used to stare at this room when it was our office/catch all/Vikings memorabilia/ extra room and pray that one day it would have a crib in it.

And then we had two!
Where they learned to pull up and stand..
.. And had fun playing in the floor!
We had our first swimming pool fun in this back yard!

Bye Bye to our first home. Although we lived here four years without kids, it became so much more of a home when our babies joined us, and those are the memories that mean the most to me and that I will always hold dear. There were many milestones here that will never be forgotten. This house was filled with craziness and love, just asI know our next home will be.
"Home is the one place in all this world where hearts are sure of each other. It is the place of confidence. It is the place where we tear off that mask of guarded and suspicious coldness which the world forces us to wear in self-defense, and where we pour out the unreserved communications of full and confiding hearts. It is the spot where expressions of tenderness gush out without any sensation of awkwardness and without any dread of ridicule." ~Frederick W. Robertson

14 months!

The months are going by faster and faster these days. Last Saturday, August 22, Nate and Lilly were officially 14 months old. Lilly was sick (something viral I think) and running a fever from Friday until Sunday. Friday night I woke her up around 1am because she was so hot when I went to check on her. Her temperature was 103.8! Poor thing. I called the on-call nurse and I guess I hadn't been giving her enough Tylenol for her weight. We kept her doped up pretty good with Tylenol or ibuprofen after that, which seemed to do the trick and she was feeling better on Sunday, thank goodness! Nate must have a rockin' immune system because he seems fine so far (fingers crossed).

Recent pictures of sweet babes:

Lilly loves to "talk" on anything that remotely resembles a phone. This is an old one my mom saved for the kids to play with. It is amazing to me what kids pick up on!
Hello?
Mmmm... mustard.. he was sucking on it like a bottle..(I know.. ick!)
Playing with our other favorite new toys.. plastic measuring cups.
Lilly in daddy's hat
These are the closest I got to an official 14 month shot.. First thing in the morning (when they are in their best moods of the day)!

Nice bed head!
Lilly just lunged over at one point and leaned on Nate.. it was sweet!
They have both been crossing their feet a lot like Lilly is in this one.. so cute.
That's Queen Diaper Head to you!

Sunday night we looked over and she had gotten on this rocket rider all by herself- that was the first time for that! Big girl..
Nate is trying to get into trouble in anywhere and everywhere lately!!
Making herself comfortable!

Moved in with Grandma!

Since we close on our (old) house tomorrow, last weekend we got all of our stuff packed into PODS (which I HATE by the way- that's another blog) and got the rest of our stuff moved into my mom's! Whew, what a weekend. The babies did surprisingly well in the middle of all the mess. Our first night at my mom's was Saturday and they went to sleep like champs and slept until 7:30! We are physically and mentally drained, as anyone who has ever moved knows. So grateful to my mom for making room for our circus and putting up with us!

We also just accepted a counter offer on the house we wanted, so we will be moving into our new house in October! YAY! More details on that later..

For now, pictures to show how the babies are adjusting at grandma's.. Lilly has been a bit fussy, but overall they are doing so good!!

Angels are back!

Luckily, the temper tantrums and inconsolable behavior from the babies was short lived. I think Brian is now waiting for mine to go away! Haha.

I have been stressed to say the least, but trying to keep things in perspective. We did find a house in an area we really like and made an offer yesterday. It is a new home, but it is already half way done, so it should be ready by October. We didn't necessarily have to have a new home, but around here the builders are so competitive, that you can build a new home for the same cost if not less than a pre-owned home. Plus, we just were not having any luck finding anything else. This definitely feels good.. like the right decision!

Meanwhile, in the middle of all the organizing and packing and big decision making, all of a sudden I turned around one day and Nate and Lilly are big kids! They still aren't walking but they love to stand up all by themselves. They are trying more and more to mimic what we say and do (oops- better start watching my mouth in the car when someone cuts me off!). They love to say "All Done!" when they are up in their high chairs and they are done eating. And speaking of eating, it is their all time favorite thing to do these days. They are always happy in their highchairs with their mouths open ready to be fed like little birds! Nate will bang on the tray fiercely if you don't get something for him fast enough!! I cut up something and throw it on the tray, then I blink and it's gone! On top of that, he is never full. If he had his way he would continuously eat all day long! So much for my tiny little preemies!

"Look, Ma! No hands!"So proud of himself!

Daddy playing with Nate while Lilly plays with the remote.. He holds up the ball and says "Ba!"
She was seriously into the remote!!
"Look at this cool remote, Daddy!!"

"Excuse me, can I see what you have there?"
"No? Okay- I'll just pull you down and take it from you!"
Look at this sweet face!!!!
Cute matching t-shirts they got for their birthday.
Post-bath hair do..
Sweet boy after yet another hair cut..
I don't know why this picture cracks me up. They are so suspicious!
New favorite thing to do is dig things out of baskets and throw them on the floor!
