Nate and Lilly are SIX!! Birthday party and birthday quiz!

So, this year has gone by faster than any year of my life.  Is it the more kids you have, the faster the time goes?  Geez.  Anyway!  We pulled together an early evening pool party this year to celebrate Nate and Lilly's big sixth birthday.  We invited some kids from school, and a few of our neighbor friends that we always play with.  Of course my Mom came to celebrate, Aunt Alison and cousins came up from Waco and Aunt Stephanie came out from Colorado Springs, with her fiance Jerrod and his sweet daughter, Makayla.   They stayed with us for a few days and the kids hit it off great and had a blast playing together!  There was a lot going on so unfortunately I didn't get very many pictures at the pool, but I did take some of them opening presents at home after the party.

I did manage to get one with my phone at the pool before the party started!

Taking a break from the pool to eat cupcakes!
Ben was NOT happy at the party!  Poor guy, I think he was feeling cruddy from teething..

Presents!

One more cupcake, the next day, on their ACTUAL birthday!  We sang again to each of them separately, and I think they enjoyed getting their own song for a change!

 GOOF BALLS.

School ends and summer begins!

Well, the inevitable has finally come to pass.  No more safe little two day a week Pre-K.  I can not believe how fast this year flew by, but I have to say I'm SO glad we decided to hold the twins back another year before Kindergarten.  We have watched them gain confidence and individuality this year.  They were in separate classes which I think helped tremendously.  They had their own friends, their own teachers and projects.  Nate discovered he is a class clown (and apparently a ladies' man, according to other moms of girls in his class!).  He absolutely loves the limelight and making people laugh.  Lilly found her voice and learned to use her words (this is a work in progress).  She loved helping the teacher and doing the craft projects in class.  She became much less afraid of making new friends.

I'm so proud of both of them, and I know they are 100% ready to take on Kindergarten.  But until then, we have summer to enjoy, and we are doing just that!!  Here are some pics of the last day of school (we went to have ice cream and let the kids play with friends from class after school), and some of our summer so far (we are having a blast at the pool)!!

This girl told Nate she wants to marry him.. REPEATEDLY!
 A girl's gotta have girlfriends!!

Summer time at the pool with friends!!

Our big ten month old!

This big guy has learned how to do so much in the past couple months!  He loves pulling up (on anything and everything) to stand up, and now he's walking while holding on!  He's eating a little more table food, but not too much yet.  He loves to grunt and babble.  "Dada: is his favorite right now, no "Mama" yet!  He's so independent now, he never wants to sit still or be held :(.  I gave him his first hair cut, just to keep it out of his eyes!  I'm sure we could stand to cut off more but I'm not ready yet!  He looks pretty much like the pictures below when he wakes up in the morning and after naps- so HAPPY!  He usually plays quietly and babbles in the crib for a while waiting for me to come get him.  I'll admit sometimes I get my coffee going and at least get my cup ready before I go and get him!  I'm going to miss that sweet smiley face looking up at me when he doesn't do that anymore!  He's been so good about running errands with me and running all over the place with Nate and Lilly.  I never would have dragged the twins all over the place when they were this little, it was just way too hard with two!  But he's a trooper, he loves driving around and grocery shopping! And right now he's very easy to appease if he gets fussy- just toss him some puffs or yogurt melts and he's good to go.

Pictures of our sweet, happy baby!

 Look Ma, one hand!!
Really hard to get him to sit anymore!  Had to put some interesting toys in front of him in the crib!!

Loves standing up like a big boy!

He's doing so good at the pool so far- I have another post coming about our summer so far!!
