Happy FIRST Birthday to our baby boy!

Hard to believe that this sweet little guy is a year old already!  He is on the go, practically running now!  Although he is so used to not wearing shoes on his chubby little feet, that when I put his tennis shoes on, he's still clumsy and heavy-footed walking.  He still does that "Frankenstein" type walk with his arms straight out in front to help with balance, so cute!  He loves doing anything that makes noise.  Loves to take a hard plastic toy or ball and go over to the hard floor in the kitchen and throw it down as hard as he can.  He still loves his one Baby Einstein DVD, but in desperation on one fussy evening, Daddy introduced an Elmo DVD, so now he likes Elmo a little bit too!  I've given him another haircut, and have a feeling it will be an often occurrence, just like big brother!  We are trying to give him regular food, but he stores it in his cheeks like a chipmunk and won't swallow it, so we're still having to give him baby food too.  He loves milk but still wants to drink it out of his bottles, trying to get rid of those all together and stick with sippy cups.  I haven't been nearly as strict about getting rid of the bottles as I was with Nate and Lilly!

He did great at his one year check up.  Took his shots like a champ, and was so mad he ripped his band-aids right off just to show the nurse he was too tough for that nonsense!  He was just over 26 pounds, and I can't remember how tall he was, but he's 75th percentile in height and 90th percentile in weight.  He's a big boy!

We had a couple of very small parties to celebrate his first birthday.  The first one was the day before his birthday at one of our faves, Chick-Fil-A, with a few of our friends that we get together with all the time.  We had some nuggets and cupcakes!

Singing happy birthday!
Not at all sure about the candle.. Big brother blew it out for him!

We love these kiddos.  Going to miss them when school starts! :(

I WANT MY CUPCAKE BACK!!
Some pictures playing around the house..
How much do I LOVE this face???

The next day, on the morning of his real birthday.  Waking up!

Sweet sleepy smiles.. always, always..

You can't see it too well, but I made this banner of the "monthly" photos that I took of Ben with his little monthly stickers on his onesie (month 1- month 11).  We just had a  tiny birthday party lunch with us, Mom, and a couple of family friends.  It was nice!!

Opening presents!

Time for one more birthday cupcake!!

Lilly and Nate helping blow out the candle again..
YUMMMMM

My sweet Ben.  You are the most awesome surprise I have ever gotten!!  You caused my heart to grow bigger than I ever thought it could be,  I can't imagine our lives without your sweet chubby face and your smile that lights up the room.  You are the perfect (final!) addition to this family and we love you more than words can say.  Happy birthday, to our HAPPY boy!

Ben's first Colorado road trip to see his new baby cousin!

So we figured adding a one year old baby to the mix of an already long car ride would make WAY more difficult.  But I'm here to tell you, this was probably the best car ride to Colorado since we've had kids!  Nate and Lilly were pretty easy as long as they could watch their kindles and eat snacks constantly (road trip, no rules on snacks, don't care).  Ben watched  his Baby Einstein DVD, had an equally large amount of snacks, and he did great!

I have a feeling our much bigger car now was a HUGE part of our success!  In this picture I had hopped back to the middle seat next to Ben (Nate and Lilly were in the way back).
Eating puffs!
Couldn't wait to hold baby Payton after we got there! She was only one month old!  Tiny little thing :)
The kids had a blast at the splash park with their cousins!  It was HOT HOT HOT!

Nate, Lilly and Emily rolling down the hill in Grandma and Grandpa's front yard
Ben trying to get some time with Payton and Aunt Tiffany
Rockies game!  This was actually the kids' first Major League baseball game.  Nate and Lilly did good, thanks to some huge snow cones.  Ben, not so much.  What a wiggly worm!!

Lilly's turn!

Papa!
Uncle Danny and Ben
MeeMa and Payton!

Meema figured out a good way to get Ben to warm up to her.  The trike!!
Cousin time!!
Aunt Kelly and Uncle Tom!

All the cousins together.. from 1 month to 10 years old!

Ben got an early birthday party surprise one one of our last nights there!  He got lots of presents and even got to try his own very first birthday cake!  (I think he liked it)
Yummm
Family time!  Brian's Mom and her sister Denise.  Brian's aunt and uncle came all the way from Iowa- It was so great to see them!!!
The birthday party was a "Minion" theme so they got all the cousins and Uncle Brian (whose birthday was also being celebrated!) minion shirts!  This is everybody in their cute shirts!!
Everybody was tuckered out on our long drive home.  A sign of a wonderful vacation! :)
Mr. Ben playing with all his new birthday toys after we got home.

What a lucky boy!

Another good trip in the books, with lots of sweet family and play time with cousins.  Can't wait til next time!
