Twin Beds!

Cribs are down (sniff, sniff), big kid beds are up!  I was really sad but I think my stress over how they would do in the big beds kind of overshadowed my nostalgic "where have my babies gone?" blues..

Saturday morning as soon as they woke up, Brian started the disassembly of the cribs.  I stayed with the kids out in the living room watching "Cars" to avoid any of the afore mentioned nostalgic melt downs.

They were so excited!
Lilly's bed was up first, and they immediately started playing on it..

I don't know why I only took pictures of Lilly's room!  Probably because I got this cute owl bedding at Target for her, and Nate just has brown sheets and a blanket right now because THERE ARE NO CUTE BOY COMFORTERS ANYWHERE!  (Any advice on this, anybody?)
Here is a picture with the bed made.  Isn't the comforter cute?  Love it!!

There were a lot of "matchy" things that went with the bedding that I would love to get , but for now I just got the curtains.
Lilly arranged her baby and stuffed animals like this after I put the pillows up!!

So the first nap time on Saturday in the big kid beds was a complete FAIL.  It was more like us lying down with them half-way falling asleep while they played on and around us up in the beds.  It made me nervous for night time, because our routines at night have been my saving grace.  They have always been so good about letting us lay them down in their cribs and going to sleep.  I was nervous I would have to pull a "Super Nanny" and keep hauling them back to their beds every time they got up.  But to my pleasant surprise, Saturday night they did awesome.  We layed them down just like we would have in their cribs, tried to follow the same routine (night night prayer, kiss and hug, etc), turned the lights off and walked out.  We kept waiting for them to get up but they never did!  Around midnight, I heard Lilly cry from the monitor so I went in to find her on the floor.  She somehow got around the side guard we put up and rolled off!  Luckily she was fine, and quickly went back to sleep.  Nate has done great, but he actually managed to fall out a couple of nights ago too.  Thankfully no injuries.  If it weren't for those side guards they would be falling out of bed every ten minutes as much as they roll around.  I think they probably make them feel a little more secure too, since they weren't used to the big beds.  Those are definitely worth the money.  I think the ones I got were $20 each from Wal-Mart.

One thing I have loved is being able to lay down next to them and cuddle.  You can't cuddle in a crib!  So, YAY to our babies for doing so great in their big kid beds.  They never cease to amaze me!!!

DISCLAIMER: I do realize that tonight will probably be a nightmare since I am bragging on how well they are doing with this!  Isn't that always the way it goes?!?

Happy Birthday, House!

I can't believe we have been in our house for a whole year!! We closed last year on October 15 and moved in on the 16th. It is amazing how much the kids have grown since we moved in. Our house was one of the only ones on the block and now the street is almost full. I took pictures because I knew it would be neat to look back and see how bare our street was!  Here are some pictures of the kids taken the week we moved in.  Nate still had his paci and was still mostly crawling, although by the second or third week we were in the house he was walking everywhere.  Lilly was already walking when we moved in, but still unsteady.
They have both come a long way!

Look how there were no houses behind us. Ahh, that was nice. Now we are surrounded by two story houses that could see into our living room from their upstairs on an given day. I'm sure they would be thoroughly entertained! LOL

And here we are NOW!  Look how much we've grown!
Lilly doing her favorite thing.. playing with her baby!
That is a fake piece of cheese on the high chair tray.  She also put some Cheerios on the tray, but since baby didn't jump on those quickly, she decided she would take them for herself!
Having fun in the back yard, enjoying the beautiful weather!
Watching Daddy do some landscaping..

Nate's new favorite movie!

The kids got the movie CARS for their 2nd birthday and it is now the all-time favorite!  It's the first actual (longer than 30 minutes) movie they have ever liked.  This movie has made my life so much more peaceful lately!  I say it's Nate's favorite just because he is obsessed with it and when it is on, nothing else exists, but Lilly really likes it a lot too!  The last few days when we get home, we have to put it on immediately.  I don't mind putting it on because I actually like it  a lot too.  I will sit with them and watch for a few minutes and then make my way to the kitchen to fix something for dinner (in peace)!!  AWESOME!

Getting over being sick

The weather here is changing, getting cooler (YAY!) and it seems like everyone is coughing and sneezing, including all of us!  Last week I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics for my sinus infection.  After a few days of Nate and Lilly's congestion and runny noses, we decided to take them in to see the doctor as well.  Thankfully Brian went with me to help out because Nate was petrified as usual!  It turned out Nate had an ear infection and Lilly had a sinus infection.  Poor things.. But they have been on their antibiotics and I think it is safe to say our household is on the mend!  BTW- at the doctor's office Nate weighed 30 lbs and Lilly weighed 28.

Lilly waited patiently in the room.  She doesn't get scared until the doctor is actually trying to touch her.

 Nate, on the other hand..

When we got home from the doctor's office, Lilly was running around playing and tripped over her own feet right in front of me and smacked her face on the side of their little picnic table I had in the kitchen.  It left a huge gash on her cheek that really looked like I hit her in the face with a large stick.  It really looked awful (you can kind of see in this blurry picture)..

Poor thing, I felt so bad for her.. on top of everything else!  We decided there wasn't any more room for the picnic table in the kitchen, so it was moved out to the back porch!

Going Private

Hey friends and family, I just read a disturbing blog post (which I found through another one of my favorite blogs) , about a creepy man who was discovered looking and saving pictures that a Colorado mom was posting of her little boy. After reading, I have decided to go private and block my blog from anyone that I don't know.

It won't change anything for the friends and family who enjoy watching these sweet babies grow and change. But creepy people with not so good intentions will not be able to see the blog or any of our pictures, which is probably something I should have been more vigilant about a long time ago, but was too lazy to look into how to do it. Better late than never!!

If you would like to have access, please send me an email or a comment with your email address and I will add you to the list of accepted friends. I will go ahead and add all of our friends and family that I already know read the blog.

Hopefully I can get this done within the next few days.. THANK YOU!!

Pumpkin Pictures at Dallas Arboretum!!

We went to officially welcome the AWESOME Fall weather to town this weekend at the Dallas Arboretum. I have never been for there for any other season, but I know they have it so beautifully decorated for Autumn. I just love it!

The day could not have been more perfect for this! You could tell everyone felt the same- it was packed! We met our friends, the Lawsons, again this year and decided it will be a tradition! Nothing says it better than pictures- so here goes!!

Lets go see some pumpkins!

Nate was ready to pose right away, but it took Lilly a while to want to get out of the stroller!
Mommy shot!!
Family picture!
Cute little Logan- isn't that a cute shirt they had made for him with his name on it?!?
Such pretty bright flowers..

Lilly was not sure about the pumpkins at first..
So Daddy showed her some little pumpkins just her size..
