SNOWED IN!!

SO!  Just in case you don't live around here (north Texas) and/or you don't watch the news, we had a very unusual week weather-wise last week.  The weekend before had been beautiful, I mean- sunny, 70 degrees beautiful!!  Monday was still mild, no jacket needed.  Then early Tuesday morning- BAM- temperatures dropped, nasty sleet started falling with massive winds behind it.  The sleet was so loud, it woke all of us up.  The kids were up at 4am crying "IT WAININ, IT WAININ"! By Tuesday morning the streets were covered with ice and there was no hope for warming up.  The temperatures stayed well below freezing for the next FOUR DAYS!  Poor Brian had to go to work every day, but the kids and I stayed at home and didn't even go outside until FRIDAY!  It was just so cold and the wind chills just hurt your skin, so I didn't want to get the kids out at all, even though we were really getting some hard core cabin fever.

Finally on Friday, the sun came out (thank you, GOD).  Mix the sunshine with the beautiful fluffy snow that fell all morning, and we finally had a reason to go play outside!  Oh my, did it do us all good!  We seriously needed the fresh air!!  They loved it, although they didn't really know what to do besides run around in it and play with Mattie.  Brian says I should have shown them how to make snow angels, but I was TOO COLD to lay down in the snow (I know, I'm a wimp)!!

I managed to get a few pictures of the beautiful day..

He was mad his lawn mower got stuck in the snow..
Wanting me to stop taking pictures..
Pretty baby girl in front of a pretty blue sky..

Mattie had fun too!
Even though I had cabin fever, I was thankful for the extra time with the kids.  The weather is back to normal for now, but they are saying we are in for another "arctic blast" tonight and tomorrow.  UGH.  I love the snow, I can take the snow all day long, but enough already with the sleet and ice and wind chills below zero degrees!  This is TEXAS, after all!  :)
**I forgot to add when I posted this -when we were going inside, they were saying "Bye Bye, snow!" and Lilly said "I yuv you, da snow!". SO CUTE!!

I let my son wear a dress- don't judge me!!

The other day the kids saw me trying on different dresses in my closet, so of course they wanted some dresses too!  My sister gave me a bag full of little princess dresses, so I decided to break them out.  I did tell Nate that boys don't wear dresses, but he's TWO!  Some day he will be a big guy with a big tough attitude, and I will cherish these memories when he begged me to put him in a big fluffy tu-tu so he could run around the living room with his sister.  (Of course, Brian was not home for this.  When I emailed a picture to him, he said simply "take the dress off the boy".  NO FUN! hehe)

Sweet babies..
Looking pretty tough for a male ballerina!
 Cinderella and Snow White..
 One last wardrobe change..

And then they were enjoying their birthday suits!
 Sweet little toes!!
 Love these sweet close ups..
Couldn't you  just kiss those cheeks right off?!?

Fort Worth Stock Show!

The kids had so much fun last weekend looking at all the animals!  With two barn yard animal themed birthday parties in the last two months, they were dying to go see the real life animals up close and personal!  They were so excited on the way there, "Horsey say? Cow say?  Pig say?" They were cracking us up with their animal noises.

Strolling past some cows on our way inside..
All the piggies were asleep (hopefully)!
 Baby calf..

Who knew sheep wore turtle necks??

 Up close and personal!

Excuse Me?

This little girl is a human sponge lately.  She repeats everything we say and remembers things that I can not believe.  It seems that she went from one or two words to entire conversations in  a matter of days..

Last night I was sitting on the floor cleaning out Nate's drawers and she was trying to get around me to help put some diapers away in another drawer (mommy's sweet little helper).  As she squeezed by me, I heard "Excuse me, Mommy".  Not "scuze me" or "scoo-me", it was a very well pronounced "EXcuse me, Mommy".

When did this happen?  When did my baby girl learn to say excuse me when someone/something is in her way?  You just don't expect them to pick up on things like that, and every time they do it still surprises me so much!!  They are getting so good at "please" and "thank you" and "you're welcome" too.  It makes me very proud of them, and at the same time, really reminds me to watch what I say!  They are SERIOUSLY paying attention!

Farm Fun Birthday Party!!

Saturday we went to a farm themed birthday party for our friends' sweet little boy who is turning ONE.   They had fun games, and a candy-filled pinata!  It was too cute!

The birthday boy was a fast moving farmer- hard to catch him for a good picture!
These cute farm animal hats were a hit!
Lilly really liked hers.  She left it on the entire time!

The birthday boy with his Mommy
"Pin the hat on Nico"! (Nate played too, but he wanted nothing to do with the blind fold!)
I didn't get any pictures of the pinata, but I did get one of Nate gathering up the loot!
Lilly stayed on the couch with Daddy.. she wanted no part of the crowd around the candy!
Smart girl, she got some of Nate's candy and didn't even have to work for it!
Getting ready to dig into his first birthday cake.. and his big brother was right there for moral support!
Dad showing him how to really dig in!!
There he goes!
Time for presents!

I think he had a little crush on Lilly.. I don't blame him- she is pretty cute!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICO!
Thanks for inviting us to your birthday party!
