The simplest things..
The simplest things keep these kids entertained! They spent the better part of an hour the other night pushing each other around in this stroller. Well, I should say Nate was mostly pushing Lilly around, because that's what she wanted and that's usually the way it goes! The only reason we have this single stroller is because my sister gave it to me after she was done with it. We haven't really used it too much, as most everywhere we go requires our GINORMO double stroller to carry both of them in. Ahh.. what a light load this little singleton umbrella stroller is. You people with one kid have it so easy!! JUST KIDDING, OF COURSE.
Playing peek-a-boo, like we do when we are pushing them in the GINORMO stroller..
Nate is getting really good with letters, and even writing some of them! Mostly "L"s like in this pic..
SO SWEET watching him buckle her in.. and it wasn't just what he was doing it was the way he was doing it, and the way he was talking to her when he was buckling her up.. She was trying to help him too..

First Day of Preschool!
Our big kids made their way to their first day of preschool today (sniff, sniff).. After some really tough decisions, we finally chose to do a Mother's Day Out program two days a week. Even though I worked full time from the time they were a few months old, they were in an in-home daycare, so this is the first real, school-like environment for them. I was too excited about it to be very stressed or emotional. They look like such big kids with their back packs on carrying their lunch sacks, and I was so proud of them and so happy because I know this school will be so great for them.
Everything went pretty well. Lilly was super clingy and started crying when I was kissing her goodbye, but the teacher picked her up and I think she got over it pretty quickly. Nate didn't cry, but in typical Nate fashion, just sat there kind of stunned, just staring with a straight face. All in all, it was fairly free of major drama!
When I came to get them, they ran to me so excited. That was my favorite part for sure! The teacher said they did great and they seemed happy, so I declare the first day of preschool to be.. SUCCESS!!

Animals!!
Wanted to post these pics before I forgot! Last week we drove down the street where some people have horses, and we were able to get out of the car and walk up to the fence. Nate loved it and ran over to them right way, but Lilly was stand off-ish until Nate screamed at her to COME HERE!! Neither one of them wanted to leave!!
The first animals we saw were two donkeys!!
Telling Lilly to come check it out the horsey!!
Nate wanted to get up close and talk to them..
Lilly was excited too!
Who knew so much fun was waiting for us just around the corner?!

Look what Daddy got!
Yard of the Month!
The reward was this cool sign and a $20 gift card to Home Depot! We'll take it!
Some HOA guys came by Sunday and told us we had been nominated for Yard of the Month for August. We laughed because Brian was planning on putting off mowing until Monday morning, so it wasn't looking at its particular best at the exact time they brought the sign by. Add to that the fact that this summer heat and water restrictions are pretty unforgiving on the yard. But he pulled it off! Congrats to Brian, for the landscaping he did himself around all of our bushes and trees, and for always keeping our yard looking good!! YAY!
Letters!
In an effort to try to have SOME sort of routine to the day, we have been having a little "lesson" every morning. Right now we are learning how to write our letters. They are pretty good at recognizing most letters, but not so sure about writing them yet! I bought a few little educational coloring books from the dollar section in Target. Today we were trying "D" and "d". Lilly did a little better, but Nate, our resident "lefty" was having a hard time. They both decided it would be better if they turned the page over and colored smiley faces!
