Birthday party, pulling up, new words, and other stuff!

Hey- wait for me!
There has been a lot going on around our house in the last week!

We went to another birthday party last weekend for my friend Jana's little boy Camden, who was born just a couple of weeks before Nate and Lilly. It was a construction theme- so cute. There was a lot going on (I think I counted around 25-30 adults and around 15 kids!!) but it was not nearly as chaotic as you would think with that many kids!! All the kids were really well behaved and just having fun together. We held Nate and Lilly the whole time since most of the kids were moving around pretty good and we didn't want them to get run over! Plus, you know.. stranger danger.. Anyway the party was a success and we had a lot of fun. Thanks for inviting us, Jana!
Look at all those presents for sweet Camden!
Nate and Lilly were wishing it was their turn. Soon enough, babies!!
Nate has been pulling up in the crib for a while and sometimes trying to pull up on other stuff, but all of a sudden he is everywhere.. pulling up on everything! Lilly pulls half way up (to her knees) and usually just hangs out there for a while. I have seen her pull all the way up to standing several times so I know she can do it, she just doesn't care to do it all them time yet! Nate has also developed a new attachment to his silky. We usually have it in the crib, but now he is holding onto it and wanting to take it with him (even dragging it around while he crawls). I know this is probably not healthy or whatever.. but man, is it cute!!! He is my sweet little boy following me around the house with his paci and his silky and I'm not going to worry about it until he goes to kindergarten (just kidding).
See Exhibit A- Total Cuteness:Lilly is the total opposite. She doesn't care for a paci or silky and is happy to play by herself! She is really crawling now! She can get where she wants to go and fast! She was super smiley last weekend so I tried to catch as much as I could with the camera.
See Exhibits B, C, and D - Super Smiley Cutie:
Nate and Lilly can both say "ma" and "da da" randomly but this week Nate has been saying "bye bye"while waving his hand! So, those are his first words besides the good stuff. They have both been playing with their tongues a lot too. Nate likes to do "lalalala" and Lilly likes to do the tongue click thing. This is where the video would come in handy. I have to figure out how to get my videos on here!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Happy Anniversary to us!!

June 7, 2003 to be exact. I am a little late!

The year 2000 was not a good year for me, with one exception. That is the year I met Brian. It started on my 22nd birthday. Some of our great friends introduced us and it was a pretty instant connection. He had been playing baseball at the same college where I transfered to finish up, but he had just gotten hurt and decided he was done with baseball. The next summer he moved back to Colorado to finish school in his home state. It was hard on both of us but we stayed busy for the next six months. After I graduated we got engaged and I moved up to Colorado. A year and a half later, Brian graduated, we got married and moved back to Texas.
Next to the day our babies were born, our wedding day was the best day of my life.

I won't pretend that our marriage has been all roses and candle light dinners and romantic strolls in the moonlight. Marriage can be challenging and ours is no different. But I can say in all honesty that I love where we are now. We are comfortable, secure, predictable, some may even say boring.. and I love it. In many ways we are opposites attracting. I am extroverted and high strung, and and he is introverted, and easy going. It can be frustrating at times, but has come to be quite a nice balance.
Here's to six good years and a lot more to come.

We went to dinner last weekend to celebrate and had a great time. It was nice to get out just the two of us. Thanks for staying with the babies, mom!

I'll be there for you..when the rain starts to pour..

I'll be there for you, like I've been there before.
I'll be there for you, 'cause you're there for me tooooooooo!!

Ok, so the song is the them song for the TV show "Friends" if you didn't recognize it. I'm not embarrassed to admit that I had a borderline obsession with the show and even though it has been off the air for 5 or 6 years now (curse the day), I still LOVE the show, the jokes I have heard a million times, and all of the characters. I can hear one line from an episode and be able to tell you exactly which season, and what happens throughout the episode (ok, so I'm not embarrassed but not all that proud either). At one point a few years ago I think I was watching it in syndication no less that three or four times a day at different times on different channels. Oh goodness. So now you are not surprised to learn that I have the complete series DVD collection in my TV cabinet. I also have the "Friends" trivia game, not that you asked..

Anyway, I left the room for a second yesterday and came back to find that Lilly had opened the TV cabinet and managed to take out every season of my Friends DVD collection.

I think she was trying to tell me she wanted to watch them, but Brian's theory is that she is trying to tell me to throw them away.

Brian isn't a fan.

Fun weekend.. and two crawlers!

Lilly FINALLY crawled yesterday! Isn't it crazy? One day your baby can only sit in one spot, and the next day she can crawl around. I don't know why that is so weird to me. So I guess she will be crawling all over by their first birthday, what a relief!

Saturday night we headed up to hang out with some good friends who were grilling out. We had a lot of fun and the babies were in great moods. They didn't even have too much stranger danger, which kind of shocked us! They played on the floor with some toys and then enjoyed being outside with everyone. They even stayed up late- and didn't even get too fussy! We had a really good time.

Sunday we took advantage of the warm weather and set up a big blow-up pool in the backyard! I bought one a few weeks ago becasue I thought the babies would have fun (and maybe mom could get a little sun on these white legs)! It didn't last long this time, but I think we will have some good times in the pool this summer!

Okay.. now the good stuff- pictures!

Saturday night- Having fun playing with Mandy. She is pregnant for the first time, so I'm glad Nate and Lilly behaved themselves (am I the only one who had anxiety when I was pregnant brought on by other people's unruly babies?). I kept reminding her that ONE baby will be easier than TWO!

Lilly and Daddy

Sitting outside after changing into jammies. The weather was beautiful!
Nate checking Ashley outNate's first ride on a dog!

Lilly and Amber - Lilly loved hanging with the girls!
Lilly and Mom
Modeling her new bathing suit Sunday before getting in the pool!
Poor Nate had some hand-me-down trunks that were about two sizes too small! Mommy will get you some new ones, buddy.
Nate did surprisingly well in the pool at first..
..until Daddy splashed him. Then it was Melt-down City: Population One.
Lilly was a trooper. She liked splashing!

Three Day Weekend!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! God bless the men and women who serve and have served this country.

Yay for an extra day off work! Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Nate's been showing off a lot lately!
See what I mean!
This picture cracks me up!
My sister and her kids came down Saturday so we spent the day at Grandma's playing with cousins. I got my mom to snap this family pic before everyone showed up.

Lilly's face is so funny- click on the picture to get the close up if you can't see it!

Little Logan's 1st birthday party!

I am a slacker- this post is SOOOO late! Logan was born on May 19, 2008. I'll never forget-Logan's mom (my friend Lindsay) couldn't make it to my baby shower because they were ready for Logan to make his entrance in the world! She had a month a few days of motherhood before I got to experience it, and I'm glad she was first!! Hard to believe it has been a year.

So, Brian NEVER works weekends, except of course the weekend we are going to a birthday party. I had to get the monkeys ready by myself, drive them up to the party and try to keep them under control without his help. Needless to say I was pooped before I even got there! Right when we walked in, Nate and Lilly decided they would have simultaneous meltdowns so I couldn't even really say hi before I had to run to a back bedroom and give both of them bottles! After that, we went upstairs to the play room where there were a few other sweet kiddos to look at and play with. They were loving Logan's toys! A BIG HUGE THANK YOU to Lindsay, Lucas, and all of their friends and family who helped me. I really hope we didn't take too much spotlight from the birthday boy!

Logan was so cute in his little personalized lion shirt with his name on the back. And I didn't get a taste, but the birthday cakes looked amazing, so I'm sure they were yummy! Logan even had his own with a big lion on it to dig in to! He was so sweet opening presents and seemed to really enjoy all of the people being there and giving him attention. I wish my babies were so friendly to everybody!! I had to take off a little early while Logan was eating his cake because the babies were getting very sleepy, but I got to give the birthday boy a little kiss before I left.

What a whirlwind! Lindsay ran out to give me the party favors (cute little puzzles) and once I got in my car, I realized I hadn't had time to have a conversation with one person! I was bummed about not being able to smooch all over the birthday boy, and talk to Lindsay more, but this is the life with two babies! Where is my personal nanny when I need her?!?

I managed to take a few pictures, but they're not that great because I had at least one baby in hand at all times! To see the good pictures, go here. There aren't any pictures of my kids there, because people were probably afraid if they got too close or made any sudden movements, that Nate and Lilly would re-meltdown!! I must say, I don't blame them. I didn't take any pictures of my kids at the party either. HAHAHAHA.

Getting ready to go..

Unfortunately, the hat didn't make it to the party.
Logan had as much fun with the tissue as he did with the actual presents!!
About to dig in!

You throw a good party, Linds! Great job!
